ZD-8917 Soldering & Desoldering Station is a high-performance and multifunctional station that is developed and manufactured for electronic product research, production and rework. This tool is used in the fields of electronic research, teaching and production, especially in the repairing and reworking on the electronic appliances and communication equipments. 1.1 Control Unit The soldering iron and the desoldering gun tool are controlled automatically by two micro-processors. The digital control electronics and high-quality sensor and heat exchange system guarantee precise temperature control at the soldering tip. The highest degree of temperature precision and optimal dynamic thermal behavior under load conditions is obtained by the quick and accurate recording of the measured values in a closed control circuit, and this design is especially for the lead-free production technics. Temperature range is 160-480℃. 1.2 Soldering Iron (ZD-418) ZD-418 soldering iron with a power of 60W (Heat up rating 130W) and spare soldering tips (N9 series) can be used anywhere in the electronics field. The high power and slim design makes this iron suitable for fine soldering work. The heating element is made of PTC and the sensor on the soldering tip can control the soldering temperature quickly and accurately. 1.3 Desoldering gun (ZD-553) ZD-553 Desoldering gun with a power of 90W (Heat up rating 200W) and spare desoldering tips (N5 series) can be used anywhere in the electronics field. The high power and gun type design makes this gun suitable for fine desoldering work. The heating element is made of PTC and the sensor in the desoldering tip can control the desoldering temperature quickly and accurately.

3. Operation

3.1 Place the soldering iron and desoldering gun in the holder separately. Then connect the plug to the receptacle on the station and turn clockwise to tighten the plug nut. Make sure that the power supply is corresponding to the specification on the type plate and the power switch is on the “OFF” position. Connect the control unit to the power supply and switch on the power. Then a self-test will be carried out in which all display elements are switched on briefly. The electronic system then switches on automatically to the set temperature and displays this value. 3.2 The display and temperature setting 8917 (1) ① Shows the actual temperature of the tip . ② Shows the setting temperature. Press the “UP” or “DOWN” button to set the temperature. ③ ℃/℉ display. Press the "℃/℉" button to change the display between ℃ and ℉. ④ When the actual temperature of the tip is lower than the setting, "HEAT ON" will display. ⑤ When the difference is more than ±10℃ between the actual and setting temperatures of the tip, "WAIT" will display. Wait until it has disappeared. ⑥ When "ERROR" displays, there may be some problem with the system. Or the soldering iron/desoldering gun is not correctly connected.

4. Cleaning the desoldering tube

After use, the solder waste is left in the pipe. Clean it regularly, otherwise the waste will block the desoldering gun. At high temperatures, solder waste will oxidize (lead-free solder melts at 220℃ and leaded solder melts at 180℃), swell and stick to the tube tightly. Eventually it will become nearly impossible to be removed even with a cleaning tool like below. 8917 (3) (Cleaning tool) How to clean: After use every time, trigger the desoldering gun 3-5 times in the air rapidly to clear the solder waste inside its pipe. If the interval between each operation is more than 20 minutes, use the cleaning tool to clean the pipe while during intervals. When the desoldering performance becomes poor, use the cleaning tool to clean the pipe immediately. When half of the glass tube is filled with solder waste, clean it immediately. When the filter is becoming clogged up, replace the filter immediately.

5. Sleep mode

With 4-pin soldering iron & 6-pin desoldering gun, it has no sleep mode; With 6-pin soldering iron & 7-pin desoldering gun, it has sleep mode. The station will go into sleep mode if it is not used for 15 minutes. The temperature of the tip will cool down to 200℃ and keep it during the sleeping period until the station is restarted. And the station will go back to the previous settings after restarted. You can use any of the methods below to restart it: ● Turn it off and then turn it on. ● Press any button (If you do not pick up the soldering iron in two minutes after pressing the button, the station will go back into sleep mode again). ● Pick up the soldering iron/desoldering gun.
